History is one of the most fascinating topics in the entire world. Many of us want to know how certain ideas were created or how people lived without many of the luxuries that we enjoy today? New York web design has its own history and it all starts with the work of one man: Tim Burners-Lee. You might not know this person by name but you should be aware of his achievements. To be more specific, he was responsible for the creation of the first website.

Tim Berners-Lee was born in London in 1955, and it seemed like his ties to computers began at an early age. Even before he became the inventor of the World Wide Web, his parents worked with computers. In any event, Berners-Lee graduated from the Queen's College and would kick off quite the career for himself. A couple of years before the first website went live in 1991, Berners-Lee proposed the idea of a network. What it would do is connect all computers to one another so that information could be exchanged. The website in question was made by Berners-Lee on a NeXT computer, which is extremely primitive compared to the technology that we enjoy now. What you may not know, though, is that the aforementioned computer came from the company headed by Steve Jobs, who many of us now associate with Apple.

As you might imagine, the first website wasn't exactly the most detailed or complex. According to companies like Avatar New York, Berners-Lee's website was focused primarily on information found on the World Wide Web. It didn't feature videos or pictures, but instead text and links to direct visitors to appropriate pages. Users could learn about the history of the World Wide Web, the people involved, information about browser, just to name a few categories. As you can could determine from the information covered earlier, those who are involved in web design owe quite a bit to Tim Berners-Lee. Even though his name often goes overlooked, the impact he's had on the Internet as we know it is undeniable. As a matter of fact, it was due to his accomplishments that he was knighted in 2004. This is perhaps one of the biggest honors that Berners-Lee can boast today.

Arkansas Flag History

The first clear record of African-Americans in Arkansas is from 1721, more than a hundred years before statehood. In the decades that followed, Black men and women maintained an important presence in the state.

The flag of Arkansas consists of a red base with a white diamond in the center that is bordered in blue. There are 25, white, five-pointed stars in the blue border. In the center of the white diamond the word 'Arkansas' is written and there is one blue, five-pointed star above it and three more below it.

They represented the three countries that Arkansas had been a part of (Spain, France, and the United States), the date of the Louisiana purchase which made Arkansas part of the US (1803) and the fact that Arkansas was the 3rd state created from the Louisiana purchase land. The 25 stars on the flag designated Arkansas as the 25th state of the Union. Hocker modified the flag several times before it was ratified as the official flag.

The topmost single star above the name stands for the membership of Arkansas to the Confederate States of America. The 3 blue colored stars below the name are symbols for France, Spain, and the US, the countries to which Arkansas had belonged. There are also 2 stars parallel to the state name, that symbolize the twin states of Michigan and Arkansas.

Because adding the fourth star made the flag look asymmetrical (the bottom three stars were still arranged in a straight line) the legislator also offsets one of the stars at the bottom giving us the flag we fly today.

Arizona Flag And The Flag Company Inc

The birth of the Arizona State Flag can be traced back to the 1910 National Rifle Matches at Camp Perry, Ohio before Arizona officially entered the union. Shooting matches began at Camp Perry in 1907 and rapidly developed into a prestigious annual event that continues to this day.

The acting team captain heard about this and decided to assign a proper flag for their team as mentioned above. However, much emphasis was given to the historical and symbolical values depicted on the flag. The present Arizona State Flag is heavily indebted to the aforesaid flag.

The idea for the design of the flag was conceived of by Colonel Harris and by Carl Hayden, Arizona's first representative in Congress who went on to become a United States Senator. Their first priorities for the design were that it contain historical values and that its colors should reflect those values.

Designed by Colonel Charles W. Harris, the first flag, carried by the Arizona Rifle Team to the National Rifle Matches in 1911, was sewn by Nan D. Hayden. In1912, now serving as Adjutant General of Arizona, Colonel Harris designed a state flag that was similar to the flag that he designed for the Arizona Rifle Team.

These red and yellow colors were also used Spanish expedition of Coronado in 1540, searching the 7 cities of Cibola. The rays are the Union's 13 original colonies and they also symbolize the rays of the sun. The 5 pointed copper star represents Arizona as the biggest producer of copper in the country. The lower half of the Arizona Flag is the exact Liberty blue used by the US Flag. The Arizona Flag beautifully combines the colors red, blue, yellow and copper to produce an amazing state flag.

One side of the flag demonstrated the Goddess of Liberty holding in her right hand an unsheathed sword; in the left a flag with one star.

Reminiscent of the Confederate battle flag, it was designated that the crimson bars were not to be less than six inches broad and were to extend diagonally across the flag. Because Act 383 did not specify a particular format, the flag is sometimes depicted as a square and at other times depicted as a rectangle.

Peru Flag And The Flag Company Inc

Peru was once part of the great Incan Empire and later the major vice-royalty of Spanish South America. It was conquered in 1531-1533 by Francisco Pizarro. On July 28, 1821, Peru proclaimed its independence, but the Spanish were not finally defeated until 1824. For a hundred years thereafter, revolutions were frequent; a new war was fought with Spain in 1864-1866, and an unsuccessful war was fought with Chile from 1879 to 1883 (the War of the Pacific).

According to Peruvian writer Abraham Valdelomar, San Martín chose the red and white colors after having witnessed parihuanas -- flamingos with red wings and white chests -- along with the southern coast of Peru. A more prosaic but perhaps more realistic reason behind the color selection would be a mirroring of the former flag of the Viceroyalty of Peru (the Spanish Cross of Burgundy), which featured a red saltire, or diagonal cross, on a white background.

The Peruvian flag was adopted on February 25, 1825, making it one of the world's oldest flags. Peru gained independence from Spain on July 28, 1821, and a red and white flag diagonally divided into four sections was adopted. The Peruvian flag was modified to a red-white-red horizontal design in 1822 and it was adopted in 1825.

Another great liberator, Simón Bolívar, introduced a fourth and final design (as used today) on February 25, 1825. This flag used the same vertical triband design as introduced by José Bernardo de Tagle, but with the Peruvian coat of arms replacing the central sun.

The red stripes represent the blood shed for Peruvian freedom; while the white stands for peace. The flag of Peru was designed by José de San Martín, who hailed from Argentina. San Martin was a general and the prime leader of southern South America's successful fight for independence from Spain. Together with Simón Bolívar from the north, San Martín is regarded as one of the liberators of Spanish South America. He is a national hero of Argentina.

The Pennsylvania flag was adopted in the year 1907, by the State General Assembly, when an act describing the proper design of the flag was accepted and standardized.

According to the history of the Pennsylvania Flag, it is gathered that blue shade had to perfectly match with that of the US flag. The first flag for Pennsylvania was sanctioned in 1799 and displayed the Pennsylvania coat of arms, which was embroidered on each side. During the phase of the Civil War, the Pennsylvania regiments used the Stars and Stripes flag, but in a modified format.

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania flag is composed of the state’s coat of arms embroidered in the center of a dark blue background. The Pennsylvania coat of arms depicts two horses with red harnesses, one on either side, standing on their hind legs facing a shield. The shield depicts the strengths of Pennsylvania â€" a ship carrying commerce, a farming plow, and three sheaves of wheat. Perched atop the shield is an eagle. Directly below the shield is an olive branch and a corn stalk crossing limbs. At the bottom of the coat of arms is a banner that reads “Virtue, liberty, Independence” â€" the state’s motto.

The Pennsylvania state flag’s dark blue background is required to be the same color as the blue in the United States flag. The identical color is meant to signify Pennsylvania’s bond with the U.S. Similarly, the bald eagle perched at the top of state’s coat of arms also represents Pennsylvania’s loyalty to the U.S.

The flag of Pennsylvania consists of a blue base with the state coat of arms in the center. The American eagle on top of the arms represents Pennsylvania's loyalty to the United States. The shield, supported by two horses, features: a ship which represents commerce; a plough, representing Pennsylvania's natural resources; and three wheat sheaves which stand for fertility. The olive branch and cornstalk, beneath the arms, stand for peace and prosperity. The state's motto: Virtue Liberty And Independence is written on a ribbon at the bottom of the flag.

Philippines Flag History Today

There are two theories on the origins of the first Filipinos, the inhabitants of what will later be called the Philippine Islands and eventually the Republic of the Philippines.

In the beginning of the 3rd century, the inhabitants of Luzon island were in contact and trading with East Asian seafarers and merchants including the Chinese. In the 1400's the Japanese also established a trading post at Aparri in Northern Luzon.

According to official sources, the white triangle stands for equality and fraternity, the blue field for peace, truth, and justice, and the red field for patriotism and valor. The eight-rayed sun stands for the freedom and the eight provinces in which erupted in 1896, the Philippine revolution against the Spanish colonial power, (Batangas, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Manila, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga and Tarlac), and for this time martial law was declared. The three stars symbolize the main geographical areas of Luzon, Mindanao, and the Visayas island group.

The first republic was finally suppressed by the United States, and its flag was outlawed between 1907 and 1920. In 1936 the new Commonwealth of the Philippines adopted that flag in anticipation of eventual independence. Under Japanese occupation, the Philippine flag was first forbidden and then officially recognized on October 14, 1943, when the Japanese-controlled second republic was proclaimed. Filipinos opposed to Japanese rule displayed the flag with the blue stripe down and the red stripe up (i.e., they hoisted the flag upside down).

The blue stripe symbolizes patriotism and justice. The red represents valor and the blood shed for freedom and independence and the white stands for peace and purity. The white triangle represents equality and the Katipunan nationalist organization. The three stars represent the three main geographical regions of the Philippines: Luzon, Mindanao, and the Visayas. The sun represents independence and its eight rays represent the eight provinces that led the Philippine uprising against Spanish rule.
